iMovie crash at start after udate

iMovie crash at start after udate

I am having this problem since I updated it to v7.1.2.
When it starts I receive a message saying that it has to update thumbnails of iPhoto videos. I can chose to do that "now" or "later". If I chose "now" or do nothing it quits "unexpectedly". If I chose "later" it freezes while updating the thumbnails.
I deleted the Preferences files but problem continues
