iTunes 8 botched my purchased items from iTunes store

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the situation upon upgrading to iTunes 8 that their entire purchased iTunes library is completely inaccessible. iTunes 8 asks for my login and password, then accesses the iTunes Music Store, informs me that 'this computer is already authorized', and that 'including this computer, a second computer of 5 is authorized to my account' (which is definitely not the case!), and then does not play the movie/song. This situation happened only upon upgrading to iTunes 8.

Anyone else have this experience? I have an appointment set up with a Mac Genius tomorrow. I have the feeling that tech support is going to have difficulty with this one. The Apple Store indicated that I'm the first person to report this situation/bug.

Any suggestions?

Just noticed that I can play the movies/songs in QuickTime, just not through iTunes 8.

Not all the movies/songs, just some. What is going on with this?

Did you install the latest version of Quicktime 7.5.5? I just got an iTunes Assistant pop-up after installing iTunes 8.
