Tiger / G4 startup problem

Need help. Have a G4 and is using osx Tiger. Was working fine until a colleague attached another hard drive onto it. Now, I need to press the power button a few times before the G4 starts up.

The power comes on when I press the power button but after a few seconds, it goes off by itself. I'll need to press the power button again and the same thing happens. This repeats itself a few more times before the G4 can start up.

Have remove the secondary hard drive and things are back to its original configuration, but the problem the persists. Even re-loaded the os before still the same thing is happening.

please help.

Have you tried zapping the PRAM? Hold down Command-Option-P-R at the same time right when you hear the startup chime. Don't let go until after 3-4 subsequent chimes. See if this then resolves your problem.
