Faxing iMac G5 Tiger 10.4

I have an iMac G5 with Tiger 10.4. Since I installed broadband using a modem router I do not know how to fax. I have disconnected the router and connected the computer telephone socket to the telephone socket but what do I do to enable the internal modem? I know I have done this before but can't remember what I did.

System Preferences > Network > Show: Network Port Configurations

Make sure the "Internal Modem" network port is active and correctly set up.
