| Horizontal lines in alerts and dialog boxes
I just upgraded to a mac pro with an ATI 2600 video card. I get two horizontal lines in dialog boxes. Never had this with my old G4. All other windows and desktops are fine. See attachment. Anyone know how to fix this?

Replace the card. That is a hardware (video card) Kernel Panic.

An update to my question. Problem remains when running in safe mode. So no ovious startup item conflict. Etc. Problem disappears if I create a new user! So what is different between a new user and an old user running in safe mode? Doesn't this indicate that the problem is not harware related? |

Yes, that points to the problem not being hardware-related. Have you applied any "haxies" or interface modifications under the original user account? Messed around with colors or background or anything that's not modifiable with Apple's built-in tools?

I have used programs like Mac Pilot and candybar. How would one find a Haxie?

Well I fixed the problem. I know what I did but am not sure why what I did fixed the problem. If anyone else has this problem let me know.
