I tried to install a new version of osx into my laptop. Everything runs smoothly until after I choose the language I prefer. The computer then tells me that the disk is no good for this computer. I can't seem to get past this window at all, no matter what I do. I've held down apple "s" which then shows me "-sh-3.2#". What does this mean? And how can I get back into my computer? Thx

Does that message read "this software cannot be used on this computer"?
If you are trying to use an installer DVD that came with a different Mac - which would be part of a set of two grey disks - then you should know that OS X installers that shipped with a different Mac will not usually install on another Mac, unless the Mac models are identical.

Of course, you wouldn't install a system that shipped with another Mac, because the user license doesn't allow that, eh? You will need to purchase a commercial OS X installer disk, which will have a black label, with a big X across that label.
