Start my iBook G4 from a disc

Im trying to restore my iBook G4 because it wont let me log on so i try try starting it from the install disc but holding down "c" dont work for me! any questions please email at z.mccuen@gmail.com

Hi ibookg4osx,

Which install disc is it? Black or gray? If it's gray, what does it say? Did it ship with that same iBook model?
can you see the disc if you boot with "alt" held down instead?

I moved the thread to system software...

well i got it and my mom works for a school district. and she talked to the guys there because they use the same macs. they are like a drak gray. it says on it to hold the "c" key down to boot from the disc. but unfortanetly(sp) that dont work. When i try to log in a screen pops up and says the anti-virus could not load the scan engine ..... run the live update. but then it automatically clicks ok and takes me back to the log in screen. so i am trying to reformat it.

If they are not from the same type of Macs, including the same generation of Macs, and within a few weeks of the range even (so same initial build number), those will not work.

ok........she brought one of them home and they are the same exact ones!! apple want to charge me 49.99 to tell me how to do it but i dont want that so im trying to figure it out without them
