In display in system preferences there is a tab with "Millions," "Thousands," and "256" colors, but 256 colors is dimmed. How do you set your MAC display to use 256 colors so I can play an older game?

It may not be a supported function on your computer's video card. Have you tried just running the game? What happens?

the game menu runs, you can see it for five seconds but then it crashes. That's millions of colors. When I do it with Thousands colors it only crashes sometimes.

Apple's response here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2235 Looks like Leopard discontinues support for 256, maddening that it shows it as grayed out: http://www.unix.com/os-x-apple/55215...d-leopard.html But it looks like the app should pick 256 on its own. Are you running it with Fusion or Parallels on your mac (PC emulation)?
