| I am having Trouble with my OS X keychain and passwords
Hello, For some reason I do not know my administrator password. I have tried to reset it using the OS X installer DVD but to restart my computer and begin the process I have to know the password. Ridiculous, huh? So what I am asking is for help in resetting this password. I have to modify some programs and settings but I can't due to not being an administrator. I would change my status, but once again, I have to know the password. Please help me. |

Why do you have to know the admin password to restart the computer? Restart the computer with the Mac OS X Install CD/DVD in the drive, and immediately hold the 'c' key and keep it held down during the restart process, until the computer boots from the CD/DVD. Then, from the "Utilities" menu (when you're asked to select an installation language), select "Reset Admin Password."
