S.O.S. ftp permission messed-up website

hi,
im new to mac and just used it for the first time to update a website.
i downloaded the index.html file, made a change and uploaded back.
when I refreshed my browser I was AHHHHHHHH to see an error

HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to an ACL set on the requested resource.

from what ive been searching the past few hours I understand that the problem has to do with the mac ftp default permissions.
I seem to have found some solutions but since I am new to mac os x I have no idea how to implement then (afraid to make matter worse).

can anyone please guide me? i need a step by step explanation

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH

SHMAR

I use Cyber Duck and have no problem with ftp upload or permission problems, It´s a program I´d recommend.
Just upload the index.html again, and your problem is probably fixed.
hope this helps
