Having just rebooted on DW is does not, indeed, allow you to repair permissions. I fear that is not the problem. However, since you clearly have access to a computer you may try this: booted under DW you will have the option--under "File" to my recollection--to create an image of your disk. You may wish to try that. It may grant you the ability to take the files and move them to another computer to have access to them. Otherwise, unless a Guru has a way of setting up a password for you, you need to probably Archive and Install--or create the disk image--move it to another Mac--then properly reinstall--then bring over files. Granted, you probably do not have time for that. However, in the future, since this is YOUR computer and it is PORTABLE you do NOT want to grant universal access. You DO want an Admin password to prevent people from stealing data if they steal your laptop. --J.D.
