| airport extreme somehow not compatible
i have an airport extreme and I'm trying to install the software for it onto my new iMac. When i plug the adapter into the wall, there aren't any colored lights (amber and green), only white, so i think i have an old airport. so is the software still compatible? what's going on? my internet provider currently is wild-blue and i have a satellite that send the internet to the modem connected to my desktop computer. so do i plug the ethernet cable from the modem to the airport? or from the airport to my desktop. i want to get wireless internet onto my MacBook Pro laptop.

The current airport drivers and utilities that you already have in your system contain also the tools needed for handling the older versions of Airport. Plug the ethernet cable from the modem to the Airport after you've configured the Airport. You should be able to do that configuration with Airport Utility (/Applications/Utilities/) directly.
