I have a G4 Quick silver running OS 10.2.8

I have tried two DVD dual layer internal burners
1. pioneer DVR-112D
2.HP DVD 1040r

Both do the job well using DVD-R media, but not +R discs.
I use roxio Toast 6.0.5 and DVD Studio Pro 2

Is this the system burnengie that is limited, can I update it

Click on the blue Apple in the top level finder menu. Select 'About This Mac' and when the pop-up comes up select 'More Info'. This will launch /Applications/Utilities/system Profiler. When System Profiler launches highlight in the left hand corner select "Disk Burning" and this will show you the disk burner capabilities. Post them and we can tell you what your CD Burner drive can do.
