idvd 6.0.4 quitting unexpectedly

I have been using iDVD V6.0.4 for a couple of years now and all of a sudden it won't open. I have tried opening every movie I have made with it with the same results.

I have tried all of the recommendations in the help area but still get the same message.

My question is this: would reinstalling only the software from the installation disk possibly solve this problem. I don't want to cause other problems with my mac by doing this.

I wanted to add that I just reinstalled the software and still have the same problem with iDVD not starting. All other applications are working as they should.
