iDVD and IMovie - iLife '08

    I have a Mac OS X 10.4.11

After completing a software upgrade, I am not able to open iDVD from he Dock or from the application folder. The iMovie will open from the application folder, but freezes up before any movie projects can be uploaded. It freezes my entire computer so that I have to do a "forcequit" or restart.

I did a "repair permissions" through the Disk Utility/Applications/Utilities folder and still the problem exists. I reinstalled using my iLife software disk which didn't help either.

Are there other things I can try?

Does iDVD quit if you create a new, temporary user, then log in under that new user?

    Idvd won't open after update

    do this
    open a finder window
click on your home folder (the house)
    click on library
*towards the top there is a cache folder- drag it to the trash
(don't worry it will come back)
*in the same column as caches -there is a preferences folder
*double click -look for com.apple.idvd.plist- drag it to the trash
    *restart -should work
    *if not
*get the install disks that came w/your computer
    *drag idvd to the trash
*put the first install disk in
*double click install bundled software only
*when you get to select the destination
*click customize on the bottom -it may be on the very next screen
*expand all catagories (click the arrows til they point down)
*only check idvd (uncheck all others)
    *click on install
