shut down pop-up

Hi, I am getting a pop up "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?".
The one we get, if pressed the power button to switch it off?. The problem is not consistent
and mostly I get if left inactive for some time(random). I have run the hardware test(installer DVD and pressing D) without any issue found.
Anybody having any clue, please drop your suggestions.
Thanks,
Ashif

Wired keyboard? Wireless keyboard? iMac? Mac Pro? MacBook? MacBook Pro? XServe? Does the problem happen in ALL user accounts, or just one?

I was wondering if the error was a Kernel Panic. When you said all users on the Mac are having the problem means the problem is system wide and you need to start looking at hardware going bad.

Probably they'll have to replace the keyboard/palmrest/assembly since there's no way of simply replacing the power-on button, which seems to be at fault here.
