Error 2155, Hard Drive Failure

So, I have read a couple posts about diskwarrior error 2155, but there is one thing I don't understand: Is it a hardware level problem or not? I can't seem to figure out what it actually entails.

I just purchased a WD terabyte internal drive and plunked it into an enclosure for maximum portable storage. Everything was going swimmingly when all of a sudden... actually I really don't even remember how this started. All I know is that I can't even format the drive. There isn't even any data on it, all I want to do is reformat it as an apple drive. I have another partition on the drive for time machine, and that seems to work perfectly, which is why I don't get this danged thing.

Thank you.
