Keyboard issues on iBook G4

We just acquired a used G4 iBook with issues. One of the issues is the random use of the shift key. We can type along without ever hitting shift and OUr tYPE enDs UP lOOkINg liKE ThiS>

Should we take off the keyboard and clean it? If so, how do you do that? The previous owner insists that it worked fine when she shipped it.
