Question Powerbook not charging, not waking up, weird sounds please help me

Hello everyone, I´ve been trying for days now to find an answer to my problem and even posted on others forums but no luck so far. I have a powerbook g4 1 ghz 2gb ram running leopard. The other day after being on for about 30 something hours my computer started making a loud hissing sound coming from underneath the keyboard and was in what it looked like sleep mode but wouldn´t come out of the apparent sleep mode. It just stayed with the black screen making the noise until I took the powerplug out, the the sound stopped but it still stayed in the sleep mode. I took the battery out and after a while the compuetr turnend off, I tried putting the battery back on and plugin the compuetr to the power outlet but there was no light in the cable indicator. After 3 days of of plugin and unplugin the power indicator in the cable turned on!! but the computer started making the loud hissing soung again and wouln´t turn on. After some time I tried again and the computer started to boot but right before you get to see the background screen of you desktop it went to sleep mode and would come out of the sleep mode while making the loud hissing sound. After that I turned the compuetr off and tried again to plug it to power outlet but no light indicator in the power cable, that´s been days and still nothing. I tried resetting the PMU but the computer has no power to boot up. Please please help. Help, help. Thank you

Boot with your original OS x install disk that says "Hardware Test" and test the Mac. I suspect by your description that the hard drive may have went south.
