iterm ignoring .ssh/config

I am using ssh tunneling now and need the contents of my ~/.ssh/config file read. I find that iterm is not ssh conencting based on the rules defined in my ~/.ssh/config file when choosing a host from the bookmark list. What can I do to make sure the rules defined in my ~/.ssh/config are utilized when choosing a host from the ~/.ssh/config file please?*
