pdf to word

Can you recommend a pdf to word program that works. Every free trial I have tried has failed miserably.

Open the PDF document, select all, copy, paste to a word (or other text editor) document. That should work.
If it doesn't, what exactly isn't copied correctly?

Yeap. As for unrestricted PDF files, select all-->copy-->paste to a word (or other text editor) document will work.
However, There are lots of PDF files which are restricted and encrypted by authors that do not allow readers to copy contents. For this kind of files, I always use Adreamsoft PDF to Word Converter to convert them into Word and get further editing as it rarely supports converting encrypted PDF files. Besides, all the elements and layout are preserved well from original files. You can have a try.

Nice but it is a Windows only product. Won't do any good for us.

The only *really effective* program that will do this (and the only program, period, that will work if the PDF is of a graphic image of a text page) is:

OmniPage Pro/Macintosh (srp $500)
http://WWW.NUANCE.COM/imaging/omnipa...-macintosh.asp

OmniPage Pro is expensive, but here is a place to get it direct for only $99:

http://shop.nuance.com/store/nuanceu...=1249365496052

or

http://is.gd/21Hwx

It is the only product that can recognize complex formatting in a PDF and preserve it. Also, being an OCR program, it can turn a graphic image back into text (and still preserve the formatting).

There are other products that will convert a PDF into Word's ".doc"
format, but they will all be somewhat less effective.

PDF2Office (Personal/Pro $59/$129)

TextLightning $35
