| hard link problems I have a hard link that mysteriously appeared on my root drive, and I can't remove it. It is a hard link to "/". I have no idea how it got there. The link is named the same as my DNS/IP name at work (appeared at home - iBook). I tried various ways of removing it, but only ended up starting to wipe my Apps folder (started with the dot-files, then started working down the alphabet - wiped 1/2 of my apps folder before I realized it. Careful with that "rm -R"!). I've tried re-linking from root to an empty folder. Everything I try says "operation not permitted". A few iNodes have shown up and am wondering if their presence points to a corruption of the FS. I tried to figure out any iNode problems, but "fsdb" wouldn't work on my system either. |

| fixed it. cause: mounted network volume connected when I disconnected, causing some process to get left behind, locking down the link... or something.?? fix: boot into single user mode, "mount -aw", then a "ln -f filename". |
