Firefox "failed to connect' after upgrade

I am at my wits end. Just bought new mac and everything works great. Then Firefox prompted me to update to the newest release. Things went downhill after that. Now everytime I start FF I get the "Cannot Connect" dialog box about 4 times and then it finally connects. Researched and tried all the fixes I could find (removed the Real Player alias in the Library folder, changed the IpV6 setting). Still getting the same thing.

Anybody found any solutions that works. I love using Firefox, but it seems it went from hero to zero with their last update. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
