Re-set User Password; Now Computer Won't Start

Hi I searched the forum for how to re-set user password and found this thread,

lost admin password-no install disc

So, I followed the suggestion there to boot with installer disk to reset the password. Now the computer won't start. It makes a small sound as if it is going to start and then shuts down.

I have 4 Macs and assorted discs. This is an old laptop which I upgraded to OSX, so I used that upgrade disc. At least, I assumed it was the right one as I think that's the only active computer I upgraded to OSX.

Does anyone know the fix on this?

I just had the impulse to try again. It started!

I guess it just needed a rest. It is, after all, a Friday in August for our computers, also.
