iTunes unexpectedly quits

[ckibler]

I've looked at other threads to find the answer to this... but my iTunes keeps quitting unexpectedly after loading for only a few seconds. I've tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it, moving my library around, but nothing seems to work. As far as I can tell there aren't any applications that I'm running at the same time that compromise it. I'm no mac-brain by any means. Any suggestions?

How did you get rid of DivX? Did you drag the DivX-related applications in the Applications folder to the trash?

DivX installs a number of system-level things, including the applications in the Applications folder. It also installs Quicktime plug-ins in a different folder.

DivX, as I remember, also comes with an uninstaller program located alongside the applications in the Applications folder.

Can you elaborate on exactly how you uninstalled DivX, and did you also remove the Quicktime plug-ins?

I dragged the DivX applications to the trash, but I couldn't find a DivX uninstaller program or something that looked similar. There is a "DivX Decoder.Component", but that doesn't sound related, and it won't let me "empty the trash" concerning it.
I did a general search for DivX, but nothing came up in any Quicktime folders...?

Try this:

1) Download the DivX installer from divx.com.
2) Run the installer and install DivX.
3) After the install is complete, locate the "DivX" folder inside your "Applications" folder.
4) Locate "Uninstall DivX for Mac" in that folder and run it.

This will update/upgrade any DivX things you've installed to the latest version, overwriting any plug-ins or DivX apps you may already have. Then, the uninstaller will cleanly remove any DivX components (including the Quicktime plug-in) that were installed.
