Unhappy please help i can't get my mac to work on the internet

Hello just got a g3 for my son and I am running an old internet explorer version everytime i try to download safari or firefox it pulls up internet explorer and never fully loads help!!

What version OS are you running, and what browsers do you have installed on the computer?

You may be trying to download a version of Safari or FireFox that is too new for your system software.
What version of OS X are you running? Go to your Apple menu, and choose 'About this Mac' - which should tell you which OS X version you have.

There is a 10.0.4? Are you sure it is not 10.4?

I am working on another computer its 320 mb sdram power pc g3 400 mhz speed and its mac os 10.4 i think i need to get some more ram for sure.
