Stuffit is write protected

Upgraded to Snow Leopard from Leopard.
Was using a dongal from Orange UK - OK on Leopard but freezes the Apple laptop.
Have checked that it is supposed the be alright for the administrator to have access read and write.
Downloaded additional update software from Orange which is zipped.
Cannot get Stuffit to open as write protected and do not know what other file could be of use. The following is the error message:

The destination folder "/Applications/StuffIt 12" is currently write-protected. Please select another destination.

Your help would be appreciated as the dongal is of no use currently.

SGilbert will become famous soon enough
Change it using "Get Info", However, I have found that the free app 'The Unarchiver' is faster and opens more files than 'Stuffit Expander'. Try it.

Unhappy Orange Dongal and Mac Snow Leopard

Thank you for the answer.
I have ditched Stuffit and downloaded Unarchiver - which is as you say far superior.

It still will not do the necessary with the Orange software and my feeling is that this is something that Orange must resolve if they care about their Mac Snow Leopard customers or Apple on behalf of their users.

I do not hold out a lot of hope after Orange Customer services more or less said they could no care less, just maybe sometime they will provide a solution.

Thanks again and unless someone else has cracked the problem I think this will have to go un the unsolved bin.
