| Installation: Terminal doesn't work
Hi. I am trying to install Adobe CS4. I bought it online and can only download it, don't have the cd-roms. I do have the serial number though. Here's what happens: I have to open Terminal, then type in sudo /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit /etc/hosts (done) Then I have to type in my password (done. I did shell>new command, that's right, right?) What's supposed to happen: TextEdit should automatically open a file, where I have to type more stuff in. What happens: another terminal window opens, displays somthing like my user name=username (edit: to be specific, it says: Marie-Lastnames-MacBook-Pro:~ marie$) What am I doing wrong? I never used Terminal before. My MacBook Pro is only one day old, the system is OS X 10.6. Please help ![]() Thank you. Last edited by Marie-1; November 8th, 2009 at 12:45 AM. |

Let me guess. You didn't buy it from Adobe. Right?

No I didn't, but the site seemed very okay, and it says it's an Adobe certified partner.

If you paid for it at some site which asks you to mess around with system files to get it installed I suggest you call your credit card company and cancel the transaction.

I figured that by now ![]() They didn't say it before though, it said you only have to download it. Thanks anyway. At least I guess I learned something. edit: Wait, even though I might sound incredible naive now, but does that mean they're not Adobe-authorized? Great. Never trust the internet. |
