Check to see if there's a repair extension program of some sort from Apple. The one for the iMac G5 covered 3 years after the date of purchase. If they have one for this particular iMac, then you might still be covered. Either way, make an appointment with your nearest Apple Store and take with you all the information you've found about it online. They may honor the repair free of charge if they see it's a recurring problem. Doesn't hurt to try.
