Question Cant re-install my IBook G4

    Hi,
I took over my daughters IBook G4 - to surf no problems at all - but when trying to open anything else on it you get the "spinning wheel" and cant do anything. Have the orignal installations discs but the problem is that nothing happens - and the only way to get the installation disc out again from the IBook is to press the eject button when restarting....Its like it doesnt have any connections with the cd/dvd unit at all...When trying to restart and pressing c or all other buttons I have been told I get the message "we are hanging here" and thats it. Do I have to replace the hard disc or what can the problem be. I am only want to reinstall the damned thing....

"We are hanging here..." is tell-tale signs of a kernel panic, which can happen if you're trying to use OS X CDs/DVDs that were included with a different model of Mac. Are you positive that the Install/Restore disks you're using are the ones that were originally included with the iBook?

What color are those disks, and what do they say on the disk?
