Define freeze as in mouse pointer won't even move or is it the spinning beach ball of death with mouse movement. Also post more specs about the machine (i.e. HD size, free HD space, RAM, OS, etc..)
Hello,
I got my powerbook a few months ago and it was working great for a while. Recently, it has been freezing alot. In the pas week i probably have had to shut it down by pressing the power button at least 3-5 times a day. We just got an apple tv and I'm trying to sync my laptop to it, but my laptop freezes. Its about the 10 time i tried to sync it. I read about downloading CHUD tools but I don't know where to download it from or if it will even work. What would you suggest?
Thanks for the help.

My Mouse freezes and won't move. I have a powerbook G4 with mac os x 10.4.11 My hard drive is 148.93 GB with 97.57 GB of free space. My processor speed is 667 MHz, and the RAM is 1 GB.
Mouse freezing is more than likely hardware related in my experience, but you may want to plug in an external mouse to make sure its not a flaky track pad issue. If you have the installers that came with the machine you can run Apple hardware test, but it is not likely to fail on the hardware. Try swapping out RAM for known good RAM or else if you have 2 RAM chips installed try running one chip at a time to see if it still freezes.

Ok thanks, but i noticed when the mouse freezes and a page is loading, the loading gear stops spinning.
Thats probably rules out the trackpad. Are you running the machine on a hard flat surface? Does fan kick on high before it freezes? I would loop Apple Hardware test to see if there are any failures.

Thanks for replying, I usually don't have it on a flat surface, it's usually on my lap while I'm on the sofa or something. This fan does kick on high a lot, but not always when it freezes. It usually freezes when i pick it up and put it down.
How do i run an Apple hardware test.
Giaguara was nice enough to leave this explanation to save me explaining..
