Unhappy How do I switch off iSight Camera?

Using Skype in poor broadband area I have to put black tape across camera to get decent audio. Skype does not offer a deselect camera option. How else can I select it off?

The skype client does indeed allow you to turn the camera off without the need to resort to sticky tape.

While in the video session, you will find a hover over red depiction of a video camera that you can click to turn the transmission of your picture off.

Alteranately, why not simply dial without camera in the first place.

In Skype's preferences, you can deselect the video, and/or at least deselect the option to automatically start video calls.
