Using a digital video camera as a webcam

    Hi there,
I have found a few similar posts but none seem to answer my specific query and a few hours of fiddling about hasn't yielded any results. I am using Mac OSX 10.6.8

I have recently purchased as Sanyo xacti VPC-CG20 digital camcorder. I would like to be able to use it as a video input and get a live stream (this is needed in order for it to work with some stop-motion software I have purchased). The camcorder has USB (not firewire) output, but does have a 'use as PC camera' option, so is clearly capable of producing a live feed.

Once the camera is connected and set up as a webcam, it does appear as an input option in Quicktime, but when it is selected, the preview screen is just blank, and I cannot get any picture (I've checked the lens cap is off =P )

I don't know if I need to maybe install a driver or if I am going about this the wrong way, but any help would really be appreciated.

    Many Thanks.

Yes, if the OP also uses Windows on the Mac.
Serendipity is a lucky guess !
