Strange icon in my menu bar?

I had an icon appear in my MacBook Air's menu bar. It was a icon similar to a cell phone icon, that is, the 5 bars that indicate signal strength. I click on it and it said "initializing" now it is gone. Any ideas?

First open System :Preferences->User&Group. Then highlight your account and then look in the right-hand of the pane and select the mini-tab 'Login Items'. See if any old program is causing this to startup.
