    Macbook shuts down before booting

My macbook only gets to a grey screen and then shuts down.

I had the install disc, and was able to get the computer to boot using that, but it got lost.

Is there another way to get it to boot?
    Can I get another disc?

The Hard Disk might have went south without you.

Try the steps in the Apple article Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck and see if any of these steps help. If none of them help then maybe it might be time to replace the internal hard drive.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have to test it later.
