iTunes: Importing AIFF files and converting to ACC simultaneously?

iTunes: Importing AIFF files and converting to ACC simultaneously?

Is there a way to do this? As I know it, I have to drag all my AIFFs into iTunes which it then copies to it's own folder. Then, from within iTunes, I have to select all the AIFFs I just imported and convert those to ACC. Then I have to navigate to the iTunes Music folder and delete all the AIFFs it originally copied on import.

It would be nice to be able to skip a couple of those steps.
