| FileVault in 7B85 on PowerBook G3 400MHz hey, i finally got my copy of 7B85. so i moved all my files to another computer, reformatted, and installed os9. popped in cd1 of 7B85 and installed from all discs. everything is GORGEOUS - though not too many differences than 7B80. anyway, i thought i'd give FileVault a chance. i encrypted on a basic (Fresh) home folder, and then started moving my stuff back. the system was dramattically slowed down. then some of my preferences started disappearing (even the ones i had replaced from my previous install. i decrypted my folder (about 25 mins) and now everything is seeming to work o.k. is file vault going to see an update soon? maybe its not recommended on older systems. - in any case, it worked great first couple hours, and i absolutely love panther.

| I tried to do a FileVault encryption, but my computer froze up an eighth of the way through. I nearly shat myself.Luckily, thanks to file system journaling or something, nothing was damaged.

| hrmm...odd yeah so i think my system got messed up partly from FileVault and partly because i moved back one application support folder that i GUESS doesnt work in 7B85...and it took FOREVER to find out what the problem was. now im having problems with passwords. every time i open mail it asks me to authenticate my accounts. should i force delete "login.keychain"?

| i also felt a little speed decrease, because it had to encrypt every file going in and out and its just a lil slow on my 400mhz baby... :-( also the message of clearing out unused disc space gets REALLY annoying every logout/restart.

| The massage came out a couple of times... but no more... System seems ok for me... but I haven't used it with 10.2 'cause I've just bought it... Looks quite good to me... and I'm used to work with my PowerMac and 10.2.8, so there is not much difference to me... except for my good mouse... The only thing I'm scared of is security... I really home nothing bad is going to come out of it... I don't wanna loose data, even though I have a back-up... ![]()
