Remote Install OSX 10.2.6

How can I install 10.2.6 to an iMac with a CD-Rom Drive? The iMac won't read a DVD so what options do I have?

Can I copy the OS files over to the iMac and run from there?

or

Can I network an iBook with the iMac and remotely install 10.2.6?

Please include details, it's my first time.

Thanks,
jag

Sounds like you've got a release of OS X that's intended to go with a certain machine -- ALL boxed, retail versions of OS X come on CD-ROMs, not DVDs.

If you've got a CD burner somewhere, you might try making a copy of the install DVD if it'll fit on a CD. You might need to eliminate some unnecessary files from the DVD and simply burn the required booting and install files, but I don't have an OS X DVD to look at to help you with it.

Like I said, all OS X retail installations come on CDs, so you may just have to splurge and purchase the boxed retail version.
