Printing in Panther?

Anyone having problems printing from Apple apps such as Mail, TextEdit, etc?

If I print from word, it's fine, if I print from basically anything else that uses the standard print dialog for Panther, the text/picture is all tiny in one corner of the page, and doesn't fit the page like it should.

Even printing a simple text file in TextEdit comes out as tiny text at the top corner of the page.

The printer is set to print at 100% so this isn't a scaling down problem.

I have an HP Deskjet 1220C, with driver version 2.3.1 supplied by HP that comes with Panther, and I also tried CUPS+GIMP Print but they both give the same results. This suggests it's in Panther, and not the printer driver or something...

Also, I can print a test document from the HP Utility and it prints fine at regular size.

Hmmm, strange. Everything works fine here...
What happenes when you print in a file from mail or textedit? Does it look the same way or just regular?

Yeah it's very strange. I tried printing an email from Mail, a text file from TextEdit, a PDF from Preview and it all does the same thing. If I print from Word it's ok, and if I print from Photoshop it's ok as well. Both of those have their own printing service that passes it off to the printer.

Did you once print into a file instead of sending it directly to the printer? Just to check how it is looking there..

Yes, I also tried that, and there was nothing in the file, just all white

Probably a printer driver problem. I have an Epson 820 that prints from any app or browser. I have a Brother 1670N that prints from any app and any browser except Safari.

Doesn't look like a driver-issue. Do you have two partitions to see, if it has something to do with panther? I would have suggested to install panther on the other partition just to test, if you still have that prob after a fresh install...

I have another drive that I used to install the betas on. I don't recall it doing that in the beta versions I had installed on there, but I'm not sure if I even printed anything or not.

I'll give that a shot and see what happens.

Thx for the suggestion
