Question Why can't I fsck my journaled disk?

I am running 10.3 and somehow my disk became journaled. Why can't I fsck my disk? Is this a problem? Do I want my disk to be journaled? Any advice much appreciated.

Yes, you do want journaling enabled. It is a way for the OS to help ensure that you don't lose any data in the event of a forced restart or loss of power, etc..

You can still fsck the disk by the following:

fsck -yf

at the command line when booted into single user mode.

I'm not sure on this one, but the consensus is that this is no longer necessary with journaling being enabled.
