Force AddressBook number format?

I want all the entries in AddressBook to be in the same format, indipendently of what country the number belongs to.

The format I want is +12345678900. I have set the preferences to be that instead of +1 (234) 567-8900 or any other standard US format. I want to keep the US formatting in AddressBook, but setting the preferences to force the numbers to the format above does not work.

Any entry that has a US phone number, still goes to the format +1 (234) 567-8900 once I have quit editing. All non-US phone numbers respect the format I have specified in the preferences.

How can I make every single entry respect the format I want?

I am dyslexic so the format I want is not the format most user friendly for me, but it is the most functioning format for syncronizing it to other formats, keeping the entries uniform, and most importantly, conflicts least with my phone.

Why does setting the preferences not force the US entries?
