Installing Tiger?

I don't have a dvd drive in my G4 iBook, but my friend has a firewire–or usb, I forget–dvd drive. Can I install it using that? I'm guessing not, but its worth asking.

I can't say anything to whether you have a DVD drive or not, but regardless, it is my understanding that you will, in fact, be able to install from the external. I seem to recall seeing several other threads around here asking that about other computers, and the answer was it should work. Assuming, that is, you can boot from said external...

actually, there is a line of G4 iBooks that are extremely striped down (CD-Rom, no airport, 10GB hard drive) that are used in the special ed programs at my school
