Mouse speed resets to default!!!

I have seen in many Mac forums that many other Mac users are having the same problem I am having with Mouse speed in Mac OS X v10.1.

My problem is that in some instances like when I play Quake or if I switch to my other machine through my KVM switch I'll notice that my mouse speed is back to it's default setting. It's pretty annoying to have to re-adjust this speed at least 5 or 6 times a day.

I tried to find a preference file that relates to the mouse speed so I could change the default speed to my setting, that way it wouldn't switch on me all the time. So please for my sake and those other Mac users who are having the same problem, either tell us how to change the default speed of the mouse or tell us how to fix it.
