alternative to office and appleworks?

is there an alternative to office and appleworks for os x? i want a word processor and a spreadsheet - that's it! office is too expensive for my light works, and appleworks doesn't seem to have more than 1 level of undo! the undo is my biggest complaint with appleworks - if there is a way to have multiple levels of undo then my problem is solved. any info/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

oh, and i looked a open office, but there aren't any binaries yet, and i would have to compile it myself - yikes!
