Angry System crash due to FW HD in 10.1

Since I upgraded to 10.1, OSX will often crash while transfering files to and from my external FW HD... actualy, first the finder looks like its running in an infinite loop (spinning CD), then all the apps; no choice but to force-restart it. Even more serious, the result is massive corruption of the FW partition concerned: it refuses to mount in OSX. It does mount in OS9 and allows me to copy the files in it to my comp, but Norton 6 cant repair it and I have to reformat it =/
Since that FW HD is supposed to be my main HD, I'm pretty worried.

PS: on a more positive note, since I upgraded to 10.1 my FW HD at last get to sleep when its not in use... ah the silence =)
