Firewire target disk mode

It's supposed to be possible to use Firewire target disk mode in OS X 10.1 isn't it? I have a TiBook and a G3 Tower (B&W). It works in OS 9, but not in 10.1. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Firewire Target Disk mode is an OpenFirmware thing...

It works pretty much without an operating system.

wait- what? The only target disk mode I know of is holding down "T" during boot... what are you talking about?

I mean using the laptop as the hard drive, and having it show up on the desktop of the G3 Tower. This setup works in OS 9, but not OS 10.l
