"'Access Denied'"

I am using 10.1.1, and I have one Admin account.
At launch, I enter the password as usual…

But when installing various thirdparty software I get an 'Access Denied' error.
Also, some folders become 'locked' for no apparant reason, and I am unable to unlock them…

So that gives me the idea that I am not logged In correctly…

Any advice?

When installing the Norton Firewall osX updater, it installs for about 90% on the progress bar, and then the first error message pops up, saying…

' Error creating folder.
1008:9,- 5000 Access denied error'

After I click 'ok' to remove that message, I get another one saying…

'You do not have enough access privileges for this installation.'

I hope this is enough information…

I logged in as root and I could install everything, so I dont have problems anymore…
