Automator to Execute a Script After Successful Vpn Connection?

Is there a way to use Automator (or some other feature) to execute a script (particulary to update a handful of routes) after a VPN connection has been successfully established?

I looked through Automator but could not find any functions relating to VPN connections, and I also checked through the VPN configuration options but there doesn't appear to be a function for executing something after a successful connection event.

Cheers
