Can't Get G4 Sawtooth to Recognize Ethernet Port

I have a Power Mac g4 sawtooth
1gig ram
Recently install OsX on to system, now it does not see the Ethernet port.

Says "You are not connected to the Internet"

I have a LAN 5 port switch Netgear MN:FS605 v2

Switch connects to a Sonic wall appliance MN:APL11-029

Sonic wall appliance is connected to cable modem

I have tried to connect the Mac directly to the cable modem and it still does not work

When I had Os9 running the connection worked.

Can you help me understand what I need to do to correct this?

I really like my g4 and would ultimately like to connect to a PC LAN with MS Server 2003.

Is that possible? I would like to have storage and file sharing capacity with the mac and the network.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Lance
