I've been trying to share files between my PC running Windows XP and my iMac Rev D running OS X 10.2.8 for a while using Samba. File transfer from the PC to the Mac is effortlessly easy, but trying copy files from the Mac to the PC results in the well-known "error -36" on the Mac and a hung explorer.exe on the PC. What could be causing this ONE-WAY traffic issue? BTW, I CAN transfer files under a 64kb size limit from the Mac to the PC (tried it out with a text file). Why is there a size limit? Please help. This is my general network layout: D-Link Di-624+ W-LAN router iMac connected to router by ethernet cable PC wirelessly connected to router Could this issue reside in the router? I have disabled the router firewall......

Has XP have SP2? if not then update XP. If you have try changing network cable to a crossover ( this is to by-pass the switch) then trying moving data then.

I do have SP2 installed; I'll try the cross-over cable in a while; anyway, is there any other explanation?

Several months late, but I'm researching my own file sharing problems so I came across this thread. Could this have anything to do with the fact that Macs can read NTFS formatted volumes, but cannot write to them?
